Tweets needed: Tell advertisers to drop Fox News and its hate

Tweet at Fox advertisers: Drop Tucker Carlson

Dozens of advertisers finally quit funding Tucker Carlson after some recent racist remarks, but Carlson is still spewing racism every night and a handful of companies continue to bankroll his show. Tweet at these advertisers to tell them it's time to drop Carlson and his hate.

Dear 5849376,

Drop Fox News

We need your help. More than 65,000 CREDO members signed a petition demanding that companies stop normalizing Tucker Carlson's racism by advertising on his Fox News show. And while some companies have dropped, others, including some major brands, are still hanging on.

We're working with our friends at Media Matters for America to increase the public pressure on these companies to split from Carlson, who made his career by spewing white supremacist rants masked as legitimate commentary and whose tirade just last week claimed that white people are the real victims of racism.1 Can you help us tweet at Carlson's remaining advertisers?

Several weeks ago, Carlson told his viewers that immigration "makes our country poorer, and dirtier, and more divided."2 Describing immigrants as "dirty" is the kind of racist rhetoric that fuels hatred and violence, and more than two dozen sponsors left his show in response to widespread outrage.3

But these comments were just a recent example of Carlson's well-documented racist on-air commentary. He criticized the idea that diversity is an American value,4 and called the NAACP a "joke" that "should be shut down."5 He promotes right wing conspiracy theories about threats of "white genocide" and minimizes the impact of slavery.6 Carlson regularly claims Mexico interferes in U.S. elections by "packing our electorate."7

But some brands are still funding his extremist propaganda, including household names like Sony, Mitsubishi and Progressive Insurance.8 These companies must stop supporting Carlson's hatred – now.

Every company monitors its Twitter interactions to spot potential PR problems or opportunities. By tweeting at Fox News advertisers, we can push more companies to do the right thing and cut ties with Carlson. As advertisers continue to leave in droves, we can defund Carlson and turn off his firehose of hate and lies.
