Dear 5849376,

An alarming new report has found that nearly 70 percent of canned foods packaged by major food producers and retailers contain the toxic and dangerous chemical Bisphenol A (BPA).1

Grocery store giant Albertsons – which owns chains including Osco, Safeway, Star Market and many more – has claimed to have reduced BPA in its food, however the study found that 50 percent of Albertsons' store brand canned food tested contained this dangerous chemical.

As one of the country's leading grocery store chains, Albertsons must set an example and stop selling food products containing BPA to protect the health and safety of its customers.

Many food manufacturers use BPA-based epoxy resins in the lining of cans to keep foods from spoiling, but mounting evidence has revealed that this estrogen-mimicking compound is linked to a number of serious conditions including obesity, type-2 diabetes, asthma, ADHD, fertility and reproductive issues and even cancer.2

BPA can leach from these can linings and into the food we consume. According to the Center for Disease Control, 95 percent of Americans carry BPA in their bodies which can linger far longer than many researchers expected.3

BPA is so dangerous that some states across the country, Canada, the European Union, and even China have banned the use of BPA in certain products, especially those meant for babies and small children.4

That's why we're joining with our allies at Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to demand Albertsons protect all of its consumers and stop selling canned foods containing BPA once and for all.

Thanks for all you do to keep our food safe.
