Dear 5849376, Over 50,000 CREDO members out of 100,000 total people joined you on the petition demanding an investigation of Judge Bataillon, who ruled to deny a 16-year old ward of the state an abortion – even going as far as asking if she knew that "when you have the abortion it's going to kill the child inside you." But the Nebraska Commission on Judicial Qualifications has decided not to investigate the complaint of Judge Bataillon, submitted by our friends at NARAL Pro-Choice America and RH Reality Check.1 We're extremely disappointed by the lack of action and oversight on this judge, who clearly brought his biases to the bench. Judge Bataillon previously represented anti-abortion protesters in court and was the chairman of Omaha anti-abortion group Metro Right to Life. The Nebraska Supreme Court also upheld Bataillon's ruling, leaving any minor who's a ward of the state of Nebraska effectively unable to get permission for an abortion under stricter standards put in place in 2011. Despite this setback, we'll continue to fight against the rollback of a woman's right to choose, and we'll be sure to let you know how to get involved. Thank you for your activism.
