Dear 5849376, Recently, Rep. Steve King hit a new low in his anti-immigrant extremism, characterizing young, aspiring Americans as drug smugglers with "calves the size of cantaloupes."1 Since then over 50,000 activists have signed a petition started by CREDO activist Jodi O'Donnell demanding that Republican leadership in the House of Representatives remove King from the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Border Security. But our work is not done. Tomorrow, there's a big opportunity to turn up the pressure on King in his own backyard. Senators Tom Harkin and Dick Durbin are holding an immigration forum in the heart of King's district on Friday. Can you be there to join other CREDO activists and speak out against King's hateful rhetoric? What: Join Tom Harkin and Dick Durbin for an immigration forum When: Friday, August 2, 10 a.m. Where: Ames Middle School, 3915 Mortensen Road, Ames, Iowa 50014 Click here to learn more and RSVP for tomorrow's forum. If you're planning to attend, please RSVP so the event organizers can send you any last-minute updates. Sen. Harkin is a longtime champion of immigration reform, and Sen. Durbin has been a champion of DREAMers2 for years. With these two U.S. senators, along with DREAMers, farmers, students and small-business people from across Iowa expected to appear at this forum, we anticipate widespread media attention. That's why we need CREDO activists like you to come to this event and publicly condemn Rep. King's ugly remarks. Click here to learn more and RSVP for tomorrow's forum. Thank you for fighting for real immigration reform. Matt Denner, Campaign Manager CREDO Action from Working Assets Click below to RSVP: |
