Sore losers

Dear 5849376,

Our friends at People For the American Way (PFAW) have been working for a fairer, freer, and more progressive America for 30 years — including a special focus on the federal judiciary.

In recent months, Senate Republicans have waged an unprecedented campaign of delay and obstruction to stop President Obama's judicial nominees to the influential DC Circuit Court. It's nothing more than a blatantly partisan effort to ensure that important federal courts remain dominated by right-wing majorities.

Please take action with PFAW today, and tell Senate Republicans: End the obstruction and confirm the president's judicial nominees to the DC Circuit Court.

Dear Activist,

Senate Republicans are digging in their heels to make sure important federal courts remain dominated by majorities of right-wing judges -- making up wild stories about how President Obama is engaging in "court packing" simply by nominating people to fill urgent vacancies on the bench!

President Obama’s nomination of Cornelia “Nina” Pillard, Patricia Ann Millett and Robert Leon Wilkins to the U.S. Court of Appeal for the D.C. Circuit significantly steps up the fight against Republican obstruction of judicial nominees.

Sign our petition now to U.S. Senators telling them to CONFIRM this talented slate of nominees to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

We made a major breakthrough against the GOP's obstruction last month when the Senate confirmed executive branch nominees like Richard Cordray to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Tom Perez as Labor Secretary and Gina McCarthy to head the EPA. Now the focus must be on the courts -- and the D.C. Circuit is the front line.

The D.C. Circuit is widely regarded as the nation’s second most influential court, and is often the final word on critical decisions concerning civil rights, workers’ rights, consumers’ rights, the environment and more. But this isn’t just about D.C. Circuit. It’s about ALL the federal courts, including the Supreme Court.

Sign our petition right now to tell the Senate: No more obstruction; Fill the D.C. Circuit.

President Obama’s three nominees have superb credentials, and they’ve started to move through the committee process with Patricia Millett having received Judiciary Committee approval already. But Republicans are still indicating their intention to block their confirmation votes.

Laughably, the radical obstructionists in the GOP are trying to label the president’s attempt to fill these vacant seats as “court packing!” It’s an incredible distortion. The court needs its open seats filled to restore balance and effectively meet its caseload. But Republicans have gone so far as to propose their own court shrinking plan, to eliminate the unfilled seats and lock in the current far-right majority on the powerful D.C. Circuit.

We can’t let the Right get away with their lies and phony excuses on this one. This is a fight that, together, we can win!

Let us know you’re with us by signing the petition now. And then please help spread the word.

Thank you for standing up to help restore much needed balance to the courts.

Sincerely,
sig

Michael Keegan, President
