Dear 5849376, Congress is finally taking action on a bill to reduce gun violence. And Senator Feinstein's Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 will be considered as an amendment to the gun bill currently being debated in the Senate. If the ban is fails as an amendment, it may not be considered again in this Congress. Your senator needs to know that passing an assault weapons ban is a critical component of any bill to reduce gun violence. And he should know that we expect the Senate to represent the voters, not NRA lobbyists when this bill comes up for a vote. Call Sen. Grassley now and ask him to vote in favor of the amendment adding Senator Feinstein's Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 to the gun bill. Click here for a sample script and the number to call. The NRA succeeded in pressuring Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to remove the ban from the gun bill and only offer it as an amendment, making it easier for some senators to vote against it. But a majority of Americans support the assault weapons ban, and a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines, which is included in Feinstein's legislation.1 That's why it's so important that senators know Americans disagree with Wayne LaPierre and extremists at the NRA about the need to get weapons of war off our streets.2 We need to send a message to members of Congress, and the NRA, that passing a gun bill without a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines would be a betrayal of the American people who clearly want strong action on guns, especially semi-automatic assault weapons. Make a call to Sen. Grassley and ask him to vote in favor of the amendment adding Senator Feinstein's Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 to the gun bill.
