What a year

CREDO Action | more than a network, a movement.

Dear Friend,

As 2013 barrels ahead, we wanted to take a quick opportunity to look back at 2012, and thank you for being one of the more than 3.3 million people who have taken action with CREDO, and helped build one of the strongest voices for uncompromised progressive change in America today.

And what a year it was.

It is with tremendous gratitude and pride that we have prepared "2012: A year of CREDO Activism" to report on the amazing work we've accomplished together in the past year.

While the report describes only a fraction of the over 500 campaigns CREDO launched in 2012 (yes, more than ten per week), it should give you a sense of the size and scope of the change and impact that you and millions of other activists can help make over the course of just 12 months.

Read and share "2012: A year of CREDO Activism" now.

We began 2012 with big victories to thwart Republican attempts to fast-track approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline and reverse the Susan B. Komen Foundation's decision to defund Planned Parenthood.

It saw a massive electoral effort that defeated five of the worst Tea Party Republicans in Congress, rewrote the book on superPAC funding, and won dozens of important victories on state ballots.

December was marked by a tragic massacre that has renewed pressure on the NRA to stop blocking Congress from passing gun control measures. The year could not really close until the next day, with a middle of the night deal after an epic fight, that protected Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits from cuts but ultimately resulted in a bad debt-reduction deal that made most of the Bush tax cuts permanent.

Throughout it all, we've made progress fighting for our values — not the too-early compromises pushed all too often by politicians in Washington DC. And these fights — for a cleaner environment, to protect women from right wing attacks, to hold Congress accountable, to create a more peaceful world, to defend the social safety net — and countless others, will continue in 2013.

Whatever your resolutions for this year, we hope you'll continue to stay engaged, and keep taking action along with millions of fellow CREDO activists, in this work for progressive change.

The fight goes on. Our activism matters.

Thanks for all you do and are a part of.
