Dear Friend,

Your senator, Chuck Grassley, is one of 49 members of the Senate who have an "A" rating1 and the unqualified support of the NRA.

As one of the NRA's champions in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Grassley has a choice to make. Will he continue to stand with the NRA and support the organization's radical pro-gun agenda at any cost? Or will he stand with his constituents, including a majority of NRA members, and support common sense gun control measures like banning military-style semiautomatic assault rifles with high capacity ammunition magazines?

Tell Sen. Chuck Grassley: Stand with Iowa voters, not the NRA. Click here to automatically sign the petition.

After the shooter Adam Lanza, no one is more responsible for the slaughter of 20 first graders and six women at the Sandy Hook Elementary School than the National Rifle Association.

While the National Rifle Association pretends to represent the interests of average gun owners, in reality, it prioritizes the deadly interests of arms dealers and gun manufacturers.

The New York Times says the NRA "has virtually unmatched ferocity in advancing its political and legislative interests."2 The NRA asks the candidates it supports to sign on to a long list of extreme positions3 — positions that the majority of its paid membership doesn't even support.

The list includes:

  • NRA-supported candidates must pledge to oppose any attempts to limit access to weapons by people on the U.S. terrorism watch list.
  • NRA-supported candidates must oppose any attempts to ban military-style semi-automatic assault weapons and high capacity ammunition clips.
  • NRA-supported candidates must oppose attempts to require background checks for all gun buyers.

And that's just a few of the NRA's extreme, right-wing positions on guns.

We have momentum. Several pro-NRA senators have indicated a willingness to consider gun control legislation. Sen. Grassley needs to stop abetting the NRA and its astonishingly successful record of blocking all significant gun control laws. And he needs to hear from constituents like you that you expect him to stand with the voters of Iowa, not the NRA, when a series of gun control bills come up for votes in the Senate in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Thank you for taking a stand against the NRA and working to pass sensible gun control laws.
