Binders full of crazy

Dear Friend,

Illinois' Rep. Joe Walsh just went full Todd Akin.

Walsh said that abortions are "absolutely" never medically necessary to save the life of a mother, or protect her health thanks to "advances in science and technology."

Walsh claimed that this was an issue manufactured by advocates of women's health, claiming "There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing."

Really. He said that. And it wasn't at a secretly videotaped fundraiser. He said it talking to reporters, after a debate!

And yet, this is just a drop in the bucket of the delusional, out of touch, totally false things that Joe Walsh, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Tea Party Ten have said — while serving time representing us in Congress.

There is something wrong with these people. And it is time for them to go. Chip in $5 to defeat Joe Walsh, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Tea Party Ten.

It is a great irony that Joe Walsh — who voted to deny the indisputable science of human-caused global warming — is now invoking science, and so profoundly incorrectly. But Walsh's latest is just the beginning of the Tea Party malarkey.

Allen West called Social Security a form of slavery. Mike Fitzpatrick said that if re-elected, President Obama would trade away state secrets — to the Russians! Steve King compared immigrants to dogs.

These are people who make laws in Congress! So their statements aren't just crazy — they are dangerous.

Mike Coffman said that he knew that, in his heart, President Obama wasn't American. And Michele Bachmann... this email message simply doesn't give us the space to do justice to her litany of jaw-dropping quotes.

There is something very wrong with these people. And there is something very wrong with our political system when it enables people who are — quite literally — delusional to be elected to the U.S. Congress.

Our volunteer grassroots campaign is doing something about it. We are holding these Tea Party Republicans accountable, and we are standing up to the flood of SuperPAC money that got many of them elected in the first place.

We've had enough. Help to power this grassroots campaign to hold Tea Partiers accountable in these final weeks. Chip in $5 now.

Thank you for everything you are doing,

Becky Bond, Political Director
