Attack of the airwaves

Dear Friend -

We knew it would happen, and now it is. The money is flooding to the aid of Tea Party extremists as they near their accountability moment on November 6th.

In the last two weeks alone, just one superPAC has bought $1.7 million in advertising to save Illinois' Joe Walsh. Dick Army's Freedom Works has spent over $300,000 to save Walsh and Florida's Allen West. And casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson has spent another million to defend Tea Party economics poster boy, Jim Renacci in Ohio.

Minnesota Tea Partier Chip Cravaack summed up the Tea Party hopes in an email to supporters saying "this race is going to be won on the airwaves."

If we fail to reach enough voters, he's absolutely right. This tidal wave of misleading ads on TV and the radio could succeed in hiding Tea Partiers' extreme records.

Chip in $5 now to fund our grassroots campaign.

As long as we fully fund our grassroots campaign, then there is no doubt Tea Partiers can be defeated, not on the airwaves, but at the doors and on the phones of voters in their districts.

We've already got them on the ropes.

Michele Bachmann and Steve King are both clinging to two point leads according to recent polls, Dan Lungren is "fighting for his political life" after failing to get the endorsement of the Sacramento Bee this weekend. Walsh, West and Cravaack are in big trouble. And Roll Call just downgraded Frank Guinta's re-election chances from "Lean Republican" to "Toss-up."

But if we don't reach enough voters in this last month, this massive wave of spending could turn the tide, and keep Tea Party extremists afloat.

It's the People vs. the TV ads. It's Grassroots vs. the very very very rich. It's what we always knew this race would come down to.

Now we're down to the final weeks. We're fighting a different game. But we need to be fighting just as hard. If we do, we will hold Tea Party extremists accountable.

Chip in $5 now.

Thanks for everything you're doing,

Becky Bond, Political Director
