Tell Congress: Dump DOMA

Dear Friend,

Our friends at People For the American Way (PFAW) have been working for a fairer, freer, and more progressive America for 30 years. Their latest campaign aims to repeal the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act," or DOMA, the discriminatory law that prevents the Federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.

Needless to say, DOMA has got to go, and fortunately there's movement in Congress to make that happen. So I hope you'll take action with PFAW today and tell Congress to dump DOMA and end marriage discrimination.

Dump Doma

35% of Americans now live in states that grant the basic rights and responsibilities of marriage on same-sex couples. But DOMA prevents the federal government from recognizing any of these relationships!

Tell Congress: It's time to Dump DOMA.

Dear Progressive Activist,

The Respect for Marriage Act, which would repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), has passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. And Representative Jerrold Nadler's (D-NY) companion bill has bipartisan support in the House.

Thanks to support from Senator Leahy (D-VT), Senator Feinstein (D-CA) and other members of Congress, we are one step closer to ending discrimination against same-sex couples ... but Americans need to speak out!

Please take a moment to add your name to PFAW's petition urging Congress to Dump DOMA and end this unconstitutional, discriminatory policy once and for all.

Even as more states move to expand marriage equality to same-sex couples, these couples are still prevented from enjoying many of the most basic benefits of marriage because the federal government won't recognize their unions as legal.

It's well past time for DOMA to go. Join PFAW's Dump DOMA campaign now by telling Congress to end marriage discrimination.

Polls confirm that Americans want same-sex couples and their families to enjoy the same rights as everyone. The momentum is ours and we know what we have to do with it: we must make Congress Dump DOMA, once and for all.

Find out more and take action now.

Thank you for your committed activism on behalf of fairness and equality — the American Way.
