"As lead attorney of the 50-state investigation of the mortgage industry, you have a unique opportunity and a unique obligation to stand strong for the victims of unscrupulous mortgage servicers.

Please uphold your promise to Iowa foreclosure victims. Don't enter into any settlement with the mortgage servicing industry that doesn't impose criminal penalties."

Dear Friend,

Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has a chance to make sure some of Wall Street's biggest criminals, the large members of the mortgage servicing industry, don't get away with cheating millions of victims.

Last December, AG Miller promised a group of Iowa foreclosure victims and their advocates that the 50-state investigation of the mortgage industry he is leading would hold unscrupulous mortgage servicers accountable and "put people in jail."1

This was in response to revelations from Congressional hearings and news articles documenting pervasive abuses by mortgage servicers — the companies that collect mortgage payments, impose late fees, negotiate loan modifications and initiate foreclosures.

But now AG Miller has changed his tune, calling the investigation "inherently civil," not criminal.2 Just this past Tuesday, AG Miller once again met with a group of concerned Iowans. This time, however, he refused to repeat his pledge to prosecute those responsible.3

Tell AG Tom Miller: Uphold your promise to victimized Iowans and impose criminal penalties on unscrupulous mortgage servicers. Click here to automatically add your name to the petition.

As lead attorney general in the 50-state investigation, AG Miller has a unique opportunity and a unique obligation to stand strong for foreclosure victims and their families. His decision on whether or not to impose criminal penalties will have a profound influence on other states' attorneys general and how they'll choose to proceed with issuing penalties.

In short, his decision will strongly affect whether or not foreclosure victims across the country see justice for what they've suffered at the hands of corrupt mortgage servicers.

Tell AG Tom Miller to hold these criminals accountable and oppose any settlement with mortgage servicers that doesn't impose criminal penalties. Click here to automatically add your name to the petition.

Thank you for defending Iowa foreclosure victims and their families.
